Lost Rune Hints

Hints and solutions to the puzzles can be find below, simply tap the relevant text. For each page the hints get progressively bigger so start with hint 1 and proceed until you find the hint you need. NB there is no penalty for using hints (save your pride!).

General Tips▼

You begin the game with quite a lot of information and several items but initially you only need to to worry about finding the first page of the diary. Once you think you've found it, follow the clues to the right location which will  reveal which is the next page, and so on. In other words, don't worry about reading/examining everything right at the start.

Page 1, hint 1 ▼

Look for a page that mentions a beginning, this is the first page of Saga's diary.

Page 1, hint 2 ▼

You need to head to one end of Svensgården, the end closest to the sea. This is a big, white building.

Page 1, Solution ▼

You're looking for a carving of a three faced man wearing a crown. He can be found atop the arch, above the gate.

Page 2, hint 1 ▼

If you are unsure who gave the compass, check the back.

Page 2, hint 2 ▼

Two of the kings tell obvious truths in their first statement. This means neither can be the king that always lies.

Page 2, hint 3▼

The king that always lies states another king always tells the truth. Since that statement is a lie that king must be the one that alternates truth and lie.

Page 2, hint 4▼

To find the next puzzle use two true statements provided by the king that always tells the truth AND a true statement provided by the king that alternates.

Page 2, hint 5▼

To find the next puzzle, you need to need to walk 50 meters to the South East, then 'Look up across the street'

Page 2, solution ▼

The King of the West always tells truth, the King of the South always lies, the King of the East alternates between truth and lies. To find the next puzzle, head to the 'dig site' (on the corner of Nikolaikirkeallmenningen) and look up across the street at the building across the road (in the direction you came). You should see several shields with the names of cities written below them.

Page 3, hint 1 ▼

Try drawing the route of the travelers in your notebook.

Page 3, hint 2▼

The correct route is: London - Bergen - Skaane - Riga - Krakow

Page 3, hint 3▼

The shape you have drawn should match an item found in your bag.

Page 3, solution ▼

The route should be a very similar shape to the 'M' rune pendant that was found in the well. Go to the well on your map. It is on Bryggestredet, in a courtyard area, in front of a white building with a triangular roof.

Page 4, hint 1 ▼

Something is missing from the sketch of the building. Compare it to the real life building in front of you. Where should the missing item be?

Page 4, hint 2 ▼

Look for the missing 'X' from the building. It lies somewhere on the grid. The rows should give a distance, the columns should give a direction.

Page 4, hint 3 ▼

You can find the meaning of the runes from the grid on your map

Page 4, solution ▼

You need to go 90 meters to the NW. The route will 'snake' a little as you cross Bredsgården but if you keep heading in that direction you will find a red brick courtyard.

Page 5, hint 1 ▼

The symbols you need are carved into a grey stone tablet. This is above a bricked up arch and below a stone carving that says 'HM1719'.

Page 5, hint 2 ▼

Use an item in your bag to find the date and time of the fire from 1955.

Page 5, hint 3 ▼

Cross reference the symbols on the grid that match those on the wall with the correct date of the fire.

Page 5, solution ▼

The correct constellation is 'Lupus'.

Page 6, hint 1▼

Find the correct square that matches the three runes (the 'Hanseatic' rune comes from the shape drawn in the shield puzzle). If you can not find a square that matches, double check your answers from the previous puzzles.

Page 6, hint 2▼

The cube needs to be placed face DOWN (so the page matches the cube)

Page 6, hint 3▼

When in place the cube should be 'rolled' onto the next square that matches (only one will ever match exactly).

Page 6, hint 4▼

Note down the runes the cube rolls over as you go and translate them

Page 6, hint 5▼

When the cube can not be rolled any further you should have reached the end. What does the message say? What rune have you landed on?

Page 6, solution▼

Check inside the piece of material at the bottom of the bag
